I am in charge of the Guild’s Charity for the upcoming year 2010 and 2011. The theme for the year will be from our heart to yours.  I would like to make some rag quilts to be donated (I am looking into donating to a children’s home for kids who are being rehabilitated coming from abusive homes.  Also plan to make some lap quilts for the nursing homes. I feel these quilts would be a wonderful way to greet people who will need something to comfort them as they start out as strangers in a new place.
I am having a Charity Day on Saturday August 28th at the Carter Green Clubhouse from 8 to 6. The following day Sunday August 29th will be a regular Fuzzy Slipper which will make for a weekend of fun.
The difference between the two days is this.
Saturday Charity day will be a commitment on your part to work on a CHARITY RAG QUILT.  Lap size or twin size using flannel fabric with “no batting”. I will be donating some flannel fabric for these projects, or you can bring your own.  I will have a donation box if you would like to contribute to the hall rental and setup fees.  Contributions are voluntary for the charity day. Bring your own lunch.
Sunday Fuzzy Slipper Meetup is a regular Fuzzy Slipper Day to work on whatever you would like with the regular charge $15 prepay and $20 at the door.
Please let me know if you are interested in attending in attending the Charitable Event on Saturday, August 28th or whether or not you are interested in making a rag quilt to be donated. I chose rag quilts because they are easier to do and easier to part with.
